A doula is a sister, friend, coach and guide. She will empower, support, educate and assist you through your pregnancy, birth and journey into parenthood. Having a doula can help you to increase your chances of having the birth you desire; help keep you and your partner close as you transition into parenthood; reduce the likelihood of interventions; and have a positive affect on your feelings about your birth experience.
With private breastfeeding and childbirth education classes for you and your partner I can tailor our sessions to your needs. My focus is empowering you with the information you need to help create a positive birth experience. Small group lessons are also available.
I came to birth work and hypnobirthing following my own birthing experiences. After educating myself and preparing for the birth of each of our children, I developed a deep respect and faith in every women’s innate wisdom, power, and ability to birth their babies. I also realized during this time that many women and their partners had a great fear of birth due to such things as society and the media’s portrayal of birth, childhood conditioning, previous trauma, and complete removal of birth from the home to the hospital. I believe it is this fear that restricts women from having the birthing experience they deeply hope for.
Mindful Hypnobirthing is about helping you to acknowledge and change your mindset and your partner’s mindset to remove fear from your pregnancy and birth. In the course, you will learn how your thoughts, and your birth partner’s thoughts and actions, can affect your body during pregnancy and labour. It provides you with easy-to-use self-hypnosis tools and mindfulness techniques to remain relaxed, calm, and powerful. With the right amount of mindfulness and preparation, birth can be transformational and empowering.
The Mindful Hypnobirthing course is 6 hours in length. This can be delivered in a one-day session or via 2 x 3hr sessions depending on your availability and preference.
This course covers:
- Birth hormones and the brain
- Mindfulness and hypnosis tools and techniques to relax and let go of fear
- Understanding pain and the impact of your thinking about pain on experience
- Exploring how our beliefs matter and how they can affect decision making
- Creating a positive birthing environment
- Learning about the role of the birth partner and how to be a compassionate birth partner
Please note: The Mindful Hypnobirthing course should be taken in addition to a prenatal course. It does not cover all the information you will find in a prenatal course. It is also highly recommended that if you have a birth partner that they also attend the course with you.

Western cultures are embracing what the Eastern cultures have known for centuries: the placenta is a wonderful source of vitamins and minerals and can assist in hormonal adjustments after birth. Placenta encapsulation is an easy way to benefit from placental consumption in an easily palatable way.
During pregnancy there are not only the dramatic physical changes but emotional and hormonal ones too. Having a regular pregnancy massage not only helps you to relax, but also will work on any aches and pains that come up for you. Prenatal massage enhances the function of muscles and joints, improves circulation and relives mental and physical exhaustion. It helps the mother to be prepare for labour and give her a nurturing emotional support.
Sally worked with my family after our baby was here to provide post partum ( after baby) care. I had unforeseen complications which made my transition into motherhood more complicated than I had imagined and without Sally's attentive care, I would have been more likely to potentially experience post partum depression or anxiety. Sally honoured the way we had chosen as a family to parent our baby and when we were not sure, always presented options for suggestion. She supported me as mom, but also our household and baby. Sally is also a master baby whisperer and seemed to be able to patiently and effectively calm our fussy babe, which was worth its weight in gold those first few months getting back on my feet. We slowly transitioned out of her care and felt sturdier on our feet when we did. I cannot say enough about the benefit Sally provided us during those critical first few months. Karley & Jake
My husband and I recently had the pleasure of working with Rachel as we prepared ourselves to welcome our third child into our family. We met numerous times through the pregnancy...casual meetings to get to know each other, and closer to the due month, some more focused sessions on labour and birth. These were very useful as although it was our third child, it was great to have a refresher on all the different scenarios. Outside of these meetings, Rachel was always available to talk or give us information. When our baby was ready to be born, it didn't start exactly as planned and Rachel helped us make informed choices throughout the labour which in turn helped us have an amazing birth. Her calm presence at the birth was fantastic and reassuring for both myself and my husband.Katya
Rachel has supported our family through two births - one homebirth and one hospital. Her knowledge and calmness are an invaluable asset both during pregnancy and during labour. Rachel also is a great asset to nursing moms in the postpartum, providing advice and encouragement when it's needed. She is 100% there for you no matter what!Coraley
Having Rachel as our doula before, during and after the birth of our daughter was an amazing experience and worth every penny. She not only supported me, but my husband as well, throughout the whole process. She answered questions, provided reassurance, guided my labour, and after, was the most wonderful, caring person who checked in, gave much needed advice, and made sure we were all doing ok regularly. She even brought us food. She's amazing! Hire her!Amanda F
Having Rachel to talk to before, during and after birth was invaluable. Both me and my partner felt prepared for the difficult decisions that came up on the day due to having gone through things that can occur ahead of time. We were also able to take part of Rachel's lengthy experience when unforseen circumstances came up. And having talked through breastfeeding before the birth left me feeling secure and in the know when that little baby was presented to me. I'm convinced my breastfeeding went so smoothly largely in part to Rachel's help. My partner found her to be an invaluable resource during the long birthing process we went through. We can't say enough good things about Rachel and our experience in working with her.Lisa, Rob & Atha
Rachel was my doula for 2 of my births! She helped me navigate a health system that I was unfamiliar with as a foreigner in her country which I think was invaluable. She was supportive of the entire family and especially inclusive of my 10 year old that was present at both births. I am grateful that I hired a doula for my family, and I am a childbirth educator and doula myself. She was great!Amanda
After a traumatic first birth (without a doula), Rachel supported us with our three subsequent planned c-sections, all of which were made into truly beautiful ‘birth experiences’ due greatly in-part to Rachel’s support. Gillian, Harrogate
An invaluable support physically and mentally. Rachel guided us through pregnancy and the positive births of both of our children (one hospital and one home). Something I will always be truly grateful for. We are still in touch 7 years later and Rachel will always be an integral part of of family story. She is a very special person who's knowledge care and kindness combined makes her one very special doula indeed.Alex and Chris, Leeds
My midwife suggested I contact Rachel for extra support when Daniel was about 8 weeks old, because I was struggling with feeling as if I couldn't meet the needs of both my children. I immediately felt comfortable with Rachel - she is warm, loving and confident and both my boys love her too. Her help enabled me to spend some dedicated time with my eldest son at a time when he was struggling with the changes in our family unit . Talking to Rachel also gave me the confidence to realise that I could be a good mum to both my children at the same time! She has helped with looking after my children, keeping on top of household things as well as being a great source of brilliant tips, advice and contactsJanine, Leeds
Following the birth where Rachel supported us with our choices and then the childcare of our older son, she continued to help us with support and information on breastfeeding and slings. She suggested ideas for coping with 2 small children at tricky times of the day (such as bath, bed and meal times), cooked us delicious meals, helped with childcare and was even happy to do a little cleaning. I honestly don't know what we would have done without her!Kim, Leeds
My husband and I used Rachel cline for prenatal classes for our second child. Our first daughter was born via c section and I really wanted to be successful in a vbac for this birth. I felt prenatal classes would help me achieve the birth I wanted. Rachel's classes were very educational, informative and custom made for our needs. My husband and I left feeling prepared for labour and delivery. I would recommend Rachel to anyone who is expecting!Angela and Jeff, Cranbrook
The support and care we received during pregnancy was the most helpful and beneficial care we could have asked for. I could contact Rachel at anytime about anything that was happening with my body or emotions and got very helpful and supportive answers that come from a deep knowledge and experience- based background. Her support and resources were priceless to our experience. Any questions or concerns were dealt with very respectfully and we were provided with excellent non-biased information so as to better make our decisions. She was full of information, love, guidance and knowledge that played a large role in the enjoyment of our successful and wonderful VBAC. We wouldn't change a thingHeather and Bernie, Cranbrook
We are so glad we involved Rachel in Healy’s birth. Especially important for us was her ability to both listen and talk meaningfully about a previous birth trauma we had experienced and help us to move forward to a positive space for this birth. During labour She kept us focused on each moment, helped to ensure I was not disturbed, and frankly, had magic hands that provided immense physical relief in between contractions.Julie-Beth and Ian, Sparwood
